Joseph W. McCray, Jr., O.D.

Joseph W. McCray received his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees in 1975 from the Illinois College of Optometry. He is currently a full time practicing Optometrist and Clinical Director at Plano Optometrics, Ltd. and serves as Associate Director at Plano Child Development Center. Plano is a not-for-profit vision care service corporation, which specializes in vision education and the identification and remediation of vision development problems in children and adults. He is a husband and father of two sons.

He strives to stay current in his field.  He earned certifications in Oral Therapeutic Agents, Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents, Midwest Eye Institute Cataract Co-Management and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents.

 Dr. McCray is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry.  He is very active at his church.  He also uses his teaching skills to serve as a certified instructor in Christian Education.  He serves as Assistant Director of the Children’s Ministry and on the Deacon Board.

In addition, Dr. McCray has had numerous professional assignments.  He has served as National Optometric Association Vice President and Treasurer, Midwest Eye Physicians Advisory Board, Illinois Eye Institute Professional Advisory Council and Serenity Counseling Center Board of Directors.
